The Ashes Series 2009 is the official 3 disc set featuring over 11 hours of highlights from all five Tests.
The Series got underway with Monty Panesar and James Anderson denying Australia an opening Test victory in Cardiff before Andrew Flintoff inspired an historic England win at Lord's.

Amidst joyous celebrations, skipper and Man of the Series Andrew Strauss proudly lifted the urn and England had regained the Ashes.

Reviews
Excellent presentationReview date: 2010-07-10 Rating: 10 out of 10Having bought the 2005 Ashes series DVD a while back, I thought it a good idea to buy this one once the memories of this topsy-turvy series began to fade from me. I didn't see all the action on TV when it occurred (I refuse to bow to corporate greed and invest in Sky so I have to be satisfied with Channel 5 highlights).
This is a well presented package with Mark Nicholas, Geoff Boycott, Matthew Hayden and Simon Hughes providing the commentary and analysis, as well as explaining the day's events. There are 3 DVDs, the first providing the 1st and 2nd tests, the second the 3rd and 4th, and the last having the 5th test. As a result there are more highlights of this game as well as more commentator input and explanations.
Its very professional and of course the action makes it memorable. How a series could swing from highs and lows on both sides from match to match is incredible, and you get drawn into the nail-biting tension of the 1st test as England try to save the game; the 2nd test where the Australians are outplayed; the 3rd where Australia mount a rearguard action on the last day in an effort to save the match; the 4th where Australia show just why they are the world's number one, and the 5th test where all hangs on the game and you enjoy the great batting, bowling and fielding of both sides.
Definitely one to buy for all fans of cricket. It's just the Channel 5 coverageReview date: 2010-06-27 Rating: 4 out of 10I bought this DVD on the basis that I thought it contained the "turning points" of a days play. Unfortunately it is just the 4's, wickets and milestones that you get on the Channel 5 highlight show, maybe with the odd dropped catch or outside edge.
I was hoping for some full overs which show the pressure being created before e.g. Lords 2nd Innings Hughes c Strauss b Flintoff. Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination. The Ashes 2009 - The Official Story [DVD]Review date: 2010-04-23 Rating: 8 out of 10
Excellent coverage of a series that I want to remember and savour again some of the key moments. Very good contributions from the commentators, above all Mark Nicholas who effectively shares his enthusiasm for the game. Not quite the best AshesReview date: 2010-01-30 Rating: 8 out of 10This series was not quite up to the standard and excitement of the 2005 Ashes, but it is well worth buying this box set nonetheless. I must also say that this set is not as good as the 2005 one, the extra features being inferior. The excellent Simon Hughes expert analysis is there again, along with interviews with the team at the Oval after it is all over, but then you get a rather naff slow-motion review of the series to finish up. Would rather have had player reviews as in the 2005 set.
Still a must-have set for the English cricket fan though.
