Anyone who likes their cricket will like this book - even though some of CMJ's rankings are baffling. Bar leaving out Martin Crowe out the top ton and having Brian Lara as low as 24 the only thing that lets it down are a few factual errors - but overall it's a good read.

As expected from Mr Martin-Jenkins - beautifully written and meticulously researched. Unexpected, but very welcome, was a photograph of each player.
He had an impossible task, and would never satisfy everyone, but he was aware of that in advance.
He avoided the pitfalls of delving into private lives in detail, and concentrated solely on ability and achievement.
A welcome addition to his previous "Complete Who's Who of test Cricketers".
