The Consummate Voice of CricketReview date: 2010-03-09 Rating: 10 out of 10For those of at least two generations, John Arlott's was the 'voice of cricket'. Merely hearing those honeyed Hampshire tones conjured up hot, lazy summer's afternoons where the only competition for the sound of leather on willow was the lark singing high in the sky over Broadhalfpenny Down in Hambledon, where modern cricket began. This CD of only a few of Arlott's memorable broadcasts still evoke these images and also demonstrate the poetry and professionalism that epitomised the man and his art. If only there were more CDs in this series. The best ever?Review date: 2009-10-25 Rating: 10 out of 10For me John Arlott is the best ever cricket commentator and this compilation is just pure nostalgia. Excellently edited and put together this will stay in my car all year round! Just brilliant.
